The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Adela Martinez-Cache, today visited the districts high Lorca, where he met with local farmers and agricultural organization responsible for Coag, to meet the needs and demands of rainfed agriculture.
The meeting, held at the hamlet Lorca de Avilés and where was the president of Coag, Miguel Padilla, the owner of Agriculture indicated that Lorca northern areas "have a different problem compared to other areas of the Region" .
He stressed that if the lack of water "is already a problem of irrigation is even more so for rainfed crops."
Martinez-Cache stressed that these areas "have a rich landscape to be maintained", and highlighted the collaboration of the Ministry for aid Rural Development Program "can contribute to improving the environmental aspect of these areas and promote maintenance ".
During the meeting, farmers moved to the minister the consequences of the lack of water is causing in almond crops, vineyards and olive groves.
They also discussed the handling of the Rural Development Programme for the next period 2015-2020, and the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy Agria and livestock sectors.
In this regard, the minister announced that the Ministry is preparing a technical conference to inform the technical aspects covered by the CAP sector.
