Social Services delivers diplomas to 40 students who have participated in various social skills workshops aimed at unemployed people (28/04/2015)

The courses have tried content such as relationship skills and interpersonal communication, self-esteem and self-care, conflict resolution and decision making, dedication in search of work and use computer and internet in search of employment, etc.

The Councillor for Social Services City of Lorca, Mari Carmen Ruiz Jodar, and the Director General of Pensions, Assessment and Inclusion Programs IMAS, Miguel Angel Miranda Gonzalez-Conde, have delivered this morning the diplomas of social skills workshops directed to unemployed people at risk of social exclusion organized by the Consistory Lorca.

Mari Carmen Ruiz explained that these courses involving a total of 28 people, divided into three groups: a group of adults with 12 participants and two youth groups from 16 to 21 years with 8 students per group.

The course aimed at young people began last November 26 and ended on April 23.

Where applicable, the course aimed at adults began on January 12 and ended on April 23.

Both workshops were developed in the classrooms of CLD, Monday through Thursday.

The mayor of Social Services noted that the contents of these courses have been related to relationship skills and interpersonal communication, self-esteem and self-care, conflict resolution and decision making, health education related to job search skills and alternatives training and prevention of domestic violence.

The Councillor for Social Care, Mari Carmen Ruiz, has also delivered the diploma to skills training workshops for the employment in which the Abraham Project collaborated Association.

In this workshop they participated 12 people unemployed, with particular difficulties in the labor market.

It has had a duration of 40 hours, divided into 10 sessions.

Also, this workshop is part of Integra Project, and is planned as a first training phase, eight months prior to the 12 participating students will perform as pre-labor practices in various municipal and NGO facilities in the municipality, in the form assistant concierge-gardening and maintenance.

Mari Carmen Ruiz explained that the contents of this training workshop has been focused on self-esteem, image and self-care, schedule planning and dedication in search of work, use of computers and the Internet in search of employment, presentation, interview: phone, in person and via Skype, public speaking, debate, teamwork and conflict resolution.

Ruiz Jodar, finally, wanted to thank their collaboration to CEPAIM Foundation and the Abraham Project, as these have contributed to the monitors workshops, scholarship assistance to students and course materials.

Likewise also he wanted to thank the technicians of the Department of Social Services for the work they have exerted during the workshops developed by the City Council, since they are the ones who are responsible for the selection of participating students, monitoring training process and classrooms.
