IU-Greens denounced Lorca becomes a commercial desert in the summer (10/07/2015)

Pedro Sosa, IU-Green councilor of Lorca, has shown his political group upset about the situation that is occurring in Lorca with the arrival of summer, as has been happening in recent years.

Sosa has referred to the lack of cultural and leisure opportunities in the city and so beset the decline that occurs every year in business at this time.

The council has referred to the need to revitalize the historic center to convert this area into an attractive space for trade, tourism and the very pedestrian walkability.

From IU-Greens say they have received complaints from street traders slide in the final stretch to Juan de Toledo, they claim that trade in the area is deteriorating at times, looking increasingly empty shops unable to generate jobs or to approach the tourists arriving in the city, tourists are in a city summer with barely open culture services, retail, leisure and restaurants in the vicinity of the town, with the almost only option Mall located just outside the municipality.

According to Sosa, there are many issues that could be undertaken to implement the revitalization of the old town in order to activate the zone, configured as a pole of interest and attraction.

In this regard, since the formation of the left claim that the City Council should try to energize the area, creating public spaces to attract tourism, encouraging interest in visiting the city, with area merchants, with their suggestions and claims , engaging in reviving the historical district and proposing broad and diverse across the urban space activities, not only in the Calderon and Plaza Colón.
