Lorca 300 recycles televisions and computer monitors in the first half of the year, 58% more than in 2014 (26/08/2015)

Councillor responsible for Limusa, Fulgencio Gil, said "the withdrawal of electronics cooling generators in the first six months of the year has doubled the retired throughout the last year."

The head of the municipal cleaning company Councilman City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that Limusa has recycled about 300 televisions and computer screens in the first half of the year, a total of 6.5 tons of this type waste.

In the same period last year, the ecopark of Lorca located within the premises of the Centre for Waste Management had received 190 units, so there was an increase of 57.9%. "These screens and home appliances small size are the most recycled by citizens, totaling 10,200 January to June kilos.

Gil explained that "the second type of electronic apparatus presence in the ecopark of Barranco Hondo of that waste are Lorca in the completed semester is the one that generates cold, a rate of about 1,500 kilos per quarter, which is coming although about 25 units. At the end of those six months, we have collected 54 units of cold between refrigerators and air conditioning, most of the first type. In 2014 all the 28 units were withdrawn from circulation, and delivered for valuation as waste, so in the first six months of this year nearly twice as withdrawn throughout the previous year is reached. "

The council has explained that "we understand that these increases occur for two reasons, first because of the rise in consumption caused by an improvement in the household economy and on the other due to the growth of the environmental sensitivity of Lorca population, He understands that the abandonment of this waste outside the treatment center generates a strong ecological problem ".

Fulgencio Gil also highlighted the emergence of the fluorescent tubes in the lists of recycling in the recycling center of Beacon Park Mall, which has already generated a hundred kilos, according to data provided by the managing body for Lorca of waste equipment electrical and electronic, ERP.

"A remarkable figure given the low weight of each unit. The clean point accumulated between the mall and Limusa by different selective collection services in these six months exceeds half a ton," added the mayor.

Therefore, the council has indicated that "to date, the Centre for Waste Management has accepted delivery of 10 tons of computer monitors and televisions, small appliances such irons, coffee pots, computers or mobile phones, 2 tons of large appliances such washing machines, ovens and ranges, as well as 3 tons of refrigerators and other appliances that produce cold, some higher than 2014 data, although it should be noted that the second part of the year is statistically more active the first half in terms of appliance recycling ".
