The Community encourages artisans to join the regional registry to design effective policies adapted to the reality of the sector (14/09/2015)

The Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment has the XXXII edition of the Feramur, held from 24 to 27 September in the Alameda of the Constitution of Lorca

The Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment is finalizing a plan to support retail trade in which specific measures for the handicraft sector included.

In order that the proceedings which are designed to be efficient and responsive to the real needs of the craftsmen, the Minister today urged the sector to join the Artisan Register of Murcia, that is voluntary.

"The registry is a must to understand the situation of crafts in the region and to manage efficiently and promote measures that we carry out tool," Hernandez said.

"We ask the artisans who sign as to design appropriate sector we know well active policies," he added.

Currently, there are 429 companies registered voluntarily, between craft firms and individual artisans.

The Minister confirmed that "the Community will continue working on the modernization, innovation and research through design, while retaining the essence of the products made by hand, and that is its main feature."

It will continue with the national and international promotion, linking with other crafts tourism products through trade fairs, both from the Institute for Tourism and Development Institute.

In short, "we will support the sector by including it in the strategies of economic development and quality of employment, to be strengthened, it is consolidated and remains a leader," Hernandez said during the presentation of Feramur.

Official XXXII edition of the Craft Fair of the Region of Murcia

The Alameda of the Constitution, also known as 'The Pillars' of Lorca will host from 24 to 27 September the XXXII edition of the Official Craft Fair of the Region of Murcia, Feramur.

The Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment today introduced the event, calling it "one of the most powerful instruments of promotion and dissemination of the crafts sector and a key element for their empowerment."

During the ceremony was accompanied by Director General of Trade and Consumer Protection, Francisca Cabrera;

the first deputy mayor of Lorca, Francisco Felix Montiel, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Lorca, Juan Francisco Gomez and Feramur director, Gregorio González.

Juan Hernandez stressed that the craft "is an economic activity generating employment and wealth which also helps to safeguard our cultural heritage and traditions."

The edition of this year changed its location due to the works carried out at the fairgrounds and Congress Center of Santa Quiteria, a regular venue of the event.

The fair will feature a total of 65 stand, that will house the products of 52 exhibitors from various trades of artisans from a dozen municipalities in the region of Murcia and other autonomous communities such as Madrid, Cantabria, Castile-La Mancha, Andalusia, Valencia and Castile and Leon.

The stand is divided into two distinct areas: traditional handicrafts and food craft.

During the development of the fair will be announced different crafts as pottery, goldsmiths, stone carvers, embroiderers, among others.

In addition, you can taste typical products such as cheese, honey, canned or deli.

Feramur in 2014 was declared by the Regional Assembly 'Event Artisan Regional Interest' for his contribution to the conservation, development, promotion, modernization and innovation of the craft of the region of Murcia.

The fair is organized by the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, the city of Lorca and Lorca Chamber of Commerce.
