The farmer and businessman Juan Marin was yesterday elected new president of the Community Irrigation Lorca, by 57% of the vote, compared to 43% obtained by Manuel Soler, the other candidate.
At six p.m. the polls closed and before eight and the name of the new president was known.
On election day the polls went through more than 2,600 villagers, who have chosen their president Juan Marin (who is the son of the current president), his deputy and members of the different districts Lorca
The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, also exercised their right to vote to elect representatives who will lead, over a period of four years, the Community Irrigation Lorca.
The Minister voted in representation of the experimental farms that the Community has in the town of Lorca.
It is 45 experimental hectares in the district of Puri and the CIFE.
The Community Irrigation Lorca is part of the Central Union of Irrigation Aqueduct Tajo-Segura.
It is the second largest in the region, after Cartagena, and has about 13,000 villagers.
