The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Barnabas, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, signed the cooperation agreement for the granting of a subsidy for the urban renewal of the Avenida Juan Carlos I, adjacent spaces and various villages of today city ​​of Lorca, which recently passed the Governing Council.
By signing the agreement the necessary steps to end the Avenida Juan Carlos I, main social and commercial artery of the city, becoming a renovated space.
They will be held performances of renewal in streets, access to roads and service networks in rural communities and councils of Lorca.
The works and performances are conducted in accordance with the proposals drawn up by experts, either the City Council, in coordination with the Ministry of Development, the implementation of recruitment and execution of work to be done.
This action is part of the works and actions of urban renewal that promotes regional government for the reconstruction of Lorca, whose objective is the recovery and development of the social and economic fabric of the city.
The agreement regulates the terms of the grant award to the City of Lorca, totaling 8.5 million euros, which is broken down into the urban renewal of the Avenida Juan Carlos I and adjacent streets, with 6.5 million euros, and the renovation of streets, roads and supply networks in rural communities and councils of Lorca, with 2 million euros.
The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure transferred to the City of Lorca the total amount of the financial contribution in two annuities, under the given by the European Investment Bank (EIB) loan.
The first is of 5.628 million euros, to be held after the signing of the agreement, and second, to 2.872 million euros in 2016.
