The Department of Mayor launches book clubs and books adapted to older people and launch a promotion campaign with talks in the village (10/02/2016)

Councilwoman Policy Staff in the city of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, has reported that the city council, Ferrovial and Barea Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement for the implementation and development of a new project for seniors in our town called "Read barrier" Mínguez Silvente explained that this is an action whose purpose is to provide this community service inclusive library by adapting library materials to their needs, with the specific purpose of same the following :

Promote reading in our elders.

Acquire specific bibliographic material to facilitate reading our elders.

Inform and spread the existence of suitable material.

Favor the existence of a book club and, particularly, the club readable.

Older Edil explained that this project is included in the program to encourage reading holding this Council in collaboration with the Municipal Library Pilar Barnes.

We are committed to adapting our services to the target group of our actions is why, through this project we enable the existence of a shared library relative to the population of our municipality is why we are committed to actions to suit the characteristics of our higher approaching our libraries to this group of people.

Through this project we opened such a positive resource as our libraries to seniors who so far could not enjoy this resource to suffer visual difficulties, file reading difficulties due to the lack of sociocultural level difficult access at an early age the school system or being older who suffer cognitive impairments that necessitates an adaptation of library materials to their circumstances.

Fátima Mínguez anticipated that is why we have seen the possibility of introducing the easy to read and clubs readable as resources to alleviate these shortcomings The implementation of this project includes the purchase of adapted material (easily read books, notebooks effective reading, plus reading books, audiobooks) and conducting a Campaign to Promote reading through the realization of 5 talks in the town in 2016 and the creation of a bank loan books easy to read, plus audiobooks in the library reading Pilar Barnes.

The action also includes establishing a support line in forming book clubs as an option for promoting reading as a positive tool for the promotion of reading and social relations.

By Ferrovial and Fundación Barea have finalized their interest in collaborating with its development, embodied in this case with a financial aid of 2,000 euros to contribute to the development of the "Read without barriers."
