The councilman of Deportes of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, this morning the IX International Chess Tournament Memorial Narciso Yepes, who has organized the Lorca Chess Club from tomorrow to June 28, with the participation of 53 big players 13 countries.
Montiel has stressed that this event has a budget of 11,000 euros in prize money, plus the unique trophy Narciso Yepes.
For its part, the new president of the chess club, Benigno Merlos, highlighted the presence of Ukrainian Grandmaster Sergey Fedorchuk, current champion of the tournament.
Also present will be number one in Serbia, Samljanovic Branco, and two young Grand Master of India Flour Dronavalli and Subbaraman Meenakshi.
Among the guests there will be 10 GM, 2 Grand Masters and International Masters 8, in addition to ten players Lorca, "for which it is a great opportunity to measure their forces with world-class chess players," he added.
Merlos has announced that the club will reward the mayor Lorca Lorca, Francisco Jodar, in gratitude for their support to the sport.
The president of the chess Lorca thanked the club president, Jesus Mazurek, for their cooperation in organizing this event.
