The Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration and the city of Lorca have signed an agreement to finance the construction of a Centre for Women in this county.
The Ministry allocated 1,050,000 euros for the implementation of this project has a total budget of 1.4 million euros, with the remainder provided by the local council.
The new Centre for Women, which will be situated at Cava, will complete the infrastructure network that the Region of Murcia has the service of women.
These infrastructures are places that offer users the opportunity to participate in training and leisure activities and cultural programs aimed specifically at female group.
The regional network of Centers for Women is currently formed by a total of 30 centers located in different municipalities in Murcia.
The new women's centers are intended to be an integral character in infrastructure which contain all the services provided to this group, ie, bringing in local employment centers, care centers for women victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) and Agents for Equality.
Moreover, it is noteworthy that in 2007, Social Policy, through the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia, awarded grants to improve and equip Centers for Women for an amount of 840,000 euros.
In an effort to maintain and increase actions to improve social policies on behalf of women, with the creation and adaptation of infrastructure and services, the Ministry has approved in 2008 grants for an amount of 1,240,000 euros.
