The month of August 2008 proved to be the most productive in the vast history of the collection of glass in the city, started in 1993.
The data reflect an absolute record in the monthly collection of this waste, standing at 82,940 kilos, a 78.21% more than the same month in 2007.
In the words of the mayor of the Environment, Melchor Morales "public awareness and improving the collection service by Limusa is paying off, and direct imaging of both behaviors is reflected in the last nine months has exceeded pick up bar twice before this August in October 2007 (78.880 kilos). "
Morales has also stressed that "this way, the selection of glass containers is growing in double digits on average, with 13.82% in those eight months, which has not happened in previous years.
The rest of selective collection is not going to fall behind.
Without marking record highs in August (it did in March 2008 to 38,200 kilos), the selection of plastic containers and metal grows steadily over the annual average of 20%.
And the paper and cardboard makes up from 12%.
