The mayor has said that "we are taking the first steps towards the creation of this forum for Equality, as designed in the Second Plan for Equality between Men and Women of the Municipality of Lorca.

Through this agora we coordinate all associations, organizations, groups and agencies involved in rural areas.

The aim is to create a space where the woman is the protagonist and this group needs to reflect on equality, deciding what actions will be taken forward and how.

The central motif of the creation of this forum is to contribute to stress and social recognition of rural women and the importance of their role in the future development of his environment. "

Antonia Lopez anticipated, moreover, that today we announce another good news for all rural women, and we're going to create two points for the Care of Children in villages.

This conciliation centers that will allow working families to better reconcile work and family responsibilities.

In this case, we will build a Center for Child Care in the County of Cazalla, which aims to meet the needs of more than three hundred families from the villages of Cazalla, Campillo, Marchena, thumb and Tiata.

We also have plans to build a Point of Care for Children in rural areas whose final location yet to be determined. "

From the Department of Women of Lorca Consistory took stock of the actions that have been developed over the past year to improve the living conditions of rural women.

Antonia Lopez has indicated that "we have taken as a basis for municipal action the conclusions reached by the women themselves during the last days of Rural Women held in our town.

We are talking about actions characterized by cross-policy actions.

In particular, we have created, for the first time, an item in the budgets of the Council of Women aimed specifically at interventions that this body is going to develop in rural areas.

During the first year has been driven management information being delivered to rural women through various women's associations that are in our municipality.

In the town we have 31 women's associations in rural areas.

We are also promoting the decentralization of training that develops from the Department of Women and other municipal departments, such as training in new technologies, which is being held for the first time in the countryside.

In this line, through the Department of New Technologies are improving and innovating in the rural area on the systems that bring new networks of communication to the citizens. "

Antonia Lopez recalled that "one of the social environments where they are most deeply rooted inequalities between men and women are in rural areas.

The lack of development, the distances to the centers of power and resources, are among the causes which according to experts, impede the advancement of rural women.

Aware of this situation, the United Nations, at the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995, agreed to be held on October 15 the International Day of Rural Women, to acknowledge the important contribution of women in rural areas. "
