The Municipal Institute of Games and Sports City of Lorca in collaboration with the Directorate General of Sports of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, presented this morning at a press conference the "School Sports" for the year 2008-2009, which is aimed at all schools of the municipality.
The event was held in the councils of the Consistory Hall attended by the mayor of Sports, Francisco Montiel, who underlined that "the event's objectives are to promote learning among students in sports, improve fitness and mean on a voluntary basis to members of the educational community. "
Montiel also noted that "is aimed at all students who are in age-specific primary and secondary, so that the categories will be those of Benjamin, juvenile, infantile and juvenile cadets, having to meet a requirement to be enrolled in a school, which in turn is enrolled in the program. "
Councilman Sports has referred to the high number of participants expected for this year "the number of students who have taken part in previous course makes us foresee that the 2008-2009 will be the year where more people got involved, trying to overcome the 8500 entries last year. "
The trials will start from Thursday, November 13, diviendose in three phases, local (between the centers of the city), inter (Lorca, Aguilas, Alhama, Librilla, Mazarrón, Puerto Lumbreras and Totana) and regional (final phase with the winners and classified in different sectors).
The sports to be practiced are Aquathlon, Duathlon, Triathlon, Athletics, Chess, Basketball, Handball, Badminton, Cross Country, Cycling, Football, Sala, Guidance, Table Tennis, Beach Volleyball and Volleyball.
