The City Council said the residents of Apolonia, Los Angeles, Armed Forces 2009 PIMUN investments that benefit their districts (04/02/2009)

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, met yesterday with the residents of Apolonia, Armed Forces and Los Angeles to expose the investments referred to in the '09 PIMUN that directly benefit their neighborhoods.

The mayor was accompanied by the council Works and Services, Angel Mecca, the councilor in charge of these districts, M ª Carmen Ruiz, as well as the mayors of Employment and Social Affairs, Lali Ibarra, and security officials, Belén Pérez.

The mayor of Works was responsible for including details of those actions, with particular emphasis on improving road safety at the entrance to the city for the neighborhood of Apollonia, the construction of new roundabouts in that spot both as access for Las Palmeras, and the remodeling and modernization of the Armed Forces Avenue.

Mecca informed citizens that the City will invest a total of 20,806.66 euros to regulate the movement of cars at the entrance to the city for the neighborhood of Apollonia.

To do this is to proceed with the installation of a traffic light control system with speed control in the existing pedestrian crossing on Avenue of the Armed Forces, specifically next to the restaurant Apollonia.

The mayor of Works also exposed one of the most ambitious projects contemplated in the '09 PIMUN such as remodeling and comprehensive modernization of the Armed Forces Avenue, involving a total investment of € 741,754.69.

Angel Mecca said that "this is an outstanding commitment of this municipality that will benefit the citizens of this area, as we will enable a lane for traffic from the Campus to the newly built roundabout to be enable the bar near Apollonia.

In addition we will proceed to the ordination of the avenue, with the improvement of the orientation of the car parking area, which will be on drums and will be online.

Angel Mecca residents anticipated that the refurbishment of the Avenue of the Armed Forces also includes the renovation of furniture, as well as improving the existing lighting.
