The Selgas Hall hosts until September 27 "Lorca, Luces de Sefarad", the largest exhibition on the legacy of Jewish culture that welcomes the municipality (19/05/2009)

The exhibition includes the most significant pieces found in the Jewish quarter of Lorca (about 85), along with original documents from the Archives of Lorca, facsimiles of the Archives of Murcia, National General Archive of Simancas, and Roman era parts found in coastal cities of Cartagena, Aguilas and Puerto de Mazarrón, from the Municipal Archaeological Museums of these locations.

The objects and documents that are displayed are organized into five thematic areas related to the exhibition: The Jews in Spain: from its origins to his expulsion, the border town of Lorca, Lorca castellated Jewry; Janukká, Party lights, and the synagogue in Lorca.

The exhibition "Lorca, Sefarad lights" arises from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Community of Murcia with the collaboration of the Municipality of Lorca.

This project since its inception has sought the cooperation of the Sephardic Jewish Communities of Spain and the Casa Sefarad Israel in Madrid and Murcia Beitenu Sefarad Foundation, a cultural entity associated with the Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain.

Union and collaboration of these institutions have emerged a draft international character that combines Archaeology-Heritage-Tourism and the recovery of important historical legacy of the Sephardic presence in the region.
