The autonomous region will invest 8.8 million euros in two new collectors for high hamlets, Rio and Grill (08/06/2009)

Councilman Water and Environment of the City of Lorca, Melchor Morales, announced this morning that in response to the demands of the residents and the Consistory Lorca, in a short period the Directorate General of Water of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Autonomous Community will bring the construction contract for a new collector to the districts high Lorca, as well as for various other populated areas of the councils of Rio Grill.

Morales stressed that "these two actions, which could begin in about six months and would last a year, are part of the Municipal Sanitation Plan, which aims to place Lorca in the nineteenth century in water treatment."

The council has explained that in particular the Regional Government to build a pipeline system to 17,766 meters in length for the disposal of sewage and rainwater that connects the people of Coy, Dona Ines and Don Gonzalo, with tendrils of Ramos, which also plans to build a new treatment plant farther from the urban core than exists today.

This project will involve an investment of close to 4.7 million euros.

In parallel, another project would be implemented today announced that a collector would give people like the Captives, Altritar, Counselor, The Channels, The shore of San Miguel and others of population who currently lack a sewerage network and typically operate with cesspools or septic tanks.

The investment in this work, which will carry water that collects in these areas to the treatment plant of La Hoya, will exceed EUR 4,132,000.

The head of the Consistory Environment lorquino stressed that these infrastructures are made with sufficient capacity for the future, performing a calculation of the population could be living around these areas with potential new developments in the coming decades.

Melchor Morales reiterated its appreciation to the Regional Government "for the significant commitment that is making by Lorca, especially in the field of water purification."
