The PSOE de Lorca asks the Local Government team to "common front" to set the phone 016 as victims of gender violence (30/06/2009)

The socialist mayor Lucia Sanchez regretted that the Autonomous Community of Murcia has not signed, despite the increase in the number of calls from women victims of male violence.

The Socialist councilor Lucia Sanchez asked the team today Local Government "make a common front" to require the Regional Government to sign a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for the implementation of a single telephone number, 016, the service for women victims of gender violence.

Sanchez recalled that in December 2006, the Government of Spain approved the National Plan for Awareness and Prevention of Violence Against Women and a list of urgent measures in this area.

Among the measures taken include the aim to ensure the implementation of a telephone information and counseling to the personal circumstances of victims of domestic violence throughout the country, regardless of their place of residence.

This service also provide specialized care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and its free of charge, is characterized inter alia by:

• Access through a short three-digit number to have the consideration of general interest service, 016, which allows quick access and easily remembered.

• Universality in the provision of services which, in addition to Castilian, attend English, French and all co-official languages.

• Continuous updating of the information on the rights of women victims and specialized resources available in social services, financial assistance, information services and assistance or duty roster, to the immediate attention of a situation of abuse.

• Provision of information service by a team of licensed telecom operators with specialized training in gender violence.

• specialist legal advice provided by a group of legal experts on gender violence.

• Ensuring confidentiality of data service users.

• Automatic derivation of emergency calls and 112 emergency centers autonomy.

Lucia Sanchez explained that in order to avoid overlap with existing services, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has already signed cooperation agreements with the Autonomous Communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Baleares, Canarias, Cantabria, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia (pipeline and call forwarding), Ceuta, C.

Valenciana, Extremadura, Navarra, Melilla, Navarra and the Basque Country.

The purpose of these agreements is to ensure the derivation of the calls according to the features and benefits of telephone information services of each Autonomous Community, ensuring that people who contact the 016 receive the care most appropriate to your situation with a single call.
