The PSOE prompted the creation of a fund for emergency aid for people with special difficulties (22/07/2009)

Note sent by PSOE:

The Socialist councilor Francisco Ruiz Alviar defend a motion reminiscent of Lorca holds the sad record of more than 6,000 people unemployed and that a significant number of these "do not have any benefit or subsidy for any of the members of the family unit. "

The Municipal Group Socialist deputy spokesman, Francisco Ruiz Alviar, announced today that it will ask at the next plenary session, which the city of Lorca urge the Regional Government to the establishment of an emergency aid for people with special difficulties.

Also requested that the fund is complementary to existing aid, and is managed by the Municipal Council of Social Services, to provide more timely in responding to situations of need in our town.

Alviar Ruiz recalled that the NGO to provide food for people without resources have highlighted the enormous increase that has occurred during the first half of people who attend their canteens and food stores.

Organizations that have made appeals to the Regional Administration for more aid and respond to the needs of the people attending.

The current economic crisis has spurred this, according to the socialist mayor.

The numbers of people who are outside the system, with minimal resources or no resources for survival, is increased by the unemployment figures, motivated by the serious deterioration of the labor market in the Region of Murcia and Lorca specifically.

In this regard stated that based on data from June 2009, "Our municipality holds the sad record of more than 6,000 people unemployed" and that a significant number of these "do not have any benefit or subsidy to any members of the family unit. "

These families are forced into very dramatic economic situations, without jobs and without benefits.

Many of them can not even afford the payments on regular expenses like electricity bills and basic necessities such as food.

These situations are compounded by the lack of speed and urgency in the granting of benefits and measures in promoting employability and social protection of the Regional Administration.

Therefore, from the Municipal Group Socialist understand that not only have to implement active employment policies, but the Government of the Region, with exclusive responsibility for, should prompt urgent arrangements to meet the urgent needs of the citizenry.

Do not fall pray that aid to NGOs

Francisco Ruiz Alviar, recalled that the PP government team has made a drastic cut in subsidies to nonprofit institutions to finance social and cultural activities of a very important part of our institutions and municipal associations.

According to the PSOE, it jeopardizes the maintenance of them, to compromise the economic capacity of these groups.

This situation is particularly worrying as these groups, especially the NGOs provide a vital service to Lorca experiencing particularly difficult situations.

Therefore, the Socialists will pray in Parliament that Jódar keep commitments to these entities by the relevant conventions and without reducing their economic.
