Lorca City Council participates in extinguishing the fire in the towns of Mojacar and Vera (24/07/2009)

Lorca's mayor, Francisco Jódar approached yesterday with the mayor of Vera, Félix López and the mayor of Mojácar, Gabriel Flores, to collaborate in the work of extinguishing the fire occurred between the towns of Mojacar and Vera Almeria that occurred because of the severe temperatures.

Lorca City Council reacted immediately from the moment in which he had recorded such an incident, providing support and sending professionals to cooperate in the work of extinguishing the fire, helping to neighboring towns.

Francisco Jodar said that "it is necessary to provide assistance to our neighboring municipalities because it is a time when many fires occur and must collaborate in their extinction to avoid greater evils to the extent possible."

It also said that "we had the news that they have been evacuated around 1,400 people, being moved to the neighboring towns of Garrucha, Vera, Carboneras Cuevas del Almanzora, where temporary shelters have been established and are being attended by health professionals" .

To address the fire, the brigade held a Consistory forest species formed by 8 people and 3 vehicles to put out the fire that affected the southern French town of Mojacar, as well as help people who had been most affected .

The brigade began work on the 10 pm and ended its work at 5 am, since the fire was finally controlled.

Also, when you got it under control, the team was relieved by Lorca (EMU) Emergency Military Unit.

The fire forced the evacuation of many citizens in the town of Mojacar, particularly in the residential areas of La Parata, The Flamingo, The Pueblo Indalo, Vista Los Angeles, Glen Aguilar and The Palm.

In addition, the unfavorable wind, with gusts up to 80 km / hour, hampered extinguishing efforts, together with Lorca, performed fire crews from nearby localities such as Vera, Turre, Adra, Pulpi, Albox, Roquetas de Mar, El Ejido and Cuevas de Almanzora to smother the flames.

As reported by the Traffic Department, the fire forced them to cut road traffic AL-6111 for several minutes around 7 pm.

Participated in extinguishing the same way Infoco Plan troops, the Military Emergency Unit (UME), Red Cross and the Public Health Emergencies (EPES).
