The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, presented the Festival of Flamenco "Sun City" in its 2009 edition, with the President of the organizer, Vicente García, and the mayor of Culture and Celebration City Consistory, Rosa María Medina.
The mayor has indicated that the City Council fully supports this Festival, and has stressed his personal involvement in the project to which, as stated, "I feel attached to both celebration and development, which all enjoy Lorca beautiful art-filled nights, and flamenco magic. "
Jódar noted that the International Festival de Cante Flamenco is 20 years old full of health and quality.
We're talking about a major flamenco festivals around the lift, which sounds hard on the national scene.
It is a festival that has had to struggle to achieve the high level that has at the moment.
That is why we all have to make common purpose so that from now on is strengthened further.
Festival is a well-known within the Spanish sphere and, above all, the flamenco world, with an impact and prestige that we are required to be increased gradually.
The President of the organizer, Vicente García, thanked the cooperation of the City in the event, anticipated to be held between the hours of 6 and 7 November at the Teatro Guerra.
Garcia noted that on 6 will develop a test basis, between 10 am and 1 pm.
Subsequently, and as in the evening, will be the semifinal stage.
In the day's final will take place 7 in 8 artists taking part.
For the 2010 edition, since the organizer is anticipated to be put in place a variation to enhance the event.
The changes, as explained by the President, provide for the conclusion of the previous phases over 4 or 5 weeks.
These districts will be developed in order to extend the festival to the maximum number of citizens.
Rosa Medina, proclaim the Festival
Vicente Garcia has informed further that the Association has chosen this year to the Councillor for Culture and Celebrations of the City of Lorca, Maria Rosa Medina, as a herald of the Festival.
A distinction that the mayor has very grateful to the organizers, noting that it is a responsibility assumed with joy.
Medina also congratulated the President on the new projects being proposed to enrich the Festival of Flamenco from the artistic point of view, quality and impact, and who are committed to underscore the purity of the performances taking place in it.
