The Government of Spain finances 75% of the restoration of the Theater War (24/10/2009)

The Government Delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, this morning attended the opening ceremony of War Theatre of Lorca, in which the Government of Spain has financed 75 per cent of the works, with investment reaching EUR 780,602 together with the Council of this city that invests 25 percent remaining to the final budget of 1,048,332 euros.

González Tovar has indicated that the subsidy received by the municipality of Lorca to restore the oldest theater in the Region of Murcia was approved by the Joint Commission XLIX, 2007, held between the Government of Spain and the municipality of the town.

So far, the Central Executive has paid 351,270 euros in 2007 and become effective the next day the remainder de.492.332 euros.

It stated that "the commitment of the Government of Spain to recover and preserve our heritage is reflected in performances like this where we get back to the people of its history, as well as promote tourism in the area to expand the cultural"

Enhancement of a theater that is part of the history of our region

The Government representative stated that the restoration of this historic theater raised the rehabilitation and improvement of existing units, the upgrading of facilities and the removal of moisture from wicking and indoor ornamental projecting elements, as it was a unwavering commitment to the enhancement of a theater that is part of the history of our region.

Note that this action was in conformity with the existing construction materials and systems, restoring the architectural and historic interest.

The facades were restored in accordance with the primitive character of the building and roof recovered usable materials to avoid altering the original character of the building,

Reopening luxury Cartagena dancer and star of the Paris Opera

On the other hand, reiterated that the restoration of the theater began in June 2008 and now opens its doors to the spectacle of dancers from Cartagena, and star of the Paris Opera, José Martinez, which is a splendid performance for this special reopening.

Finally, the delegate of the Government also recalled in his speech that the war theater is part of the 43 Cultural Interest that is declared in the county, 31 of which have the status of monuments, among which there are 16 towers castles, and numerous archaeological remains, the old city, its streets, squares, churches and stately buildings, and the banners and thrones of the Virgen de los Dolores and Sorrows, which together demonstrate the great cultural and heritage potential of Lorca in the national and international context.
