The campaign will begin this Saturday with an information table in the Alameda of the Constitution, which helps the Directorate General of Public Health of the Autonomous Community.

The Spokesman of the Government Team of the City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra, has announced that the Board of Health Council Member City of Lorca, Antonio López., Announced that the municipality and the Youth Red Cross organized an information campaign of prevention against spread of HIV / AIDS, coinciding with the celebration of World Day dedicated to this disease.

Specifically, distributed 9000 brochures, 500 posters, red ribbons and condoms as a preventive measure, for which an information table will be installed tomorrow November 28 at 18:30 pm in the Alameda of the Constitution and will start putting up posters throughout the municipality.

For the development of this campaign the city of Lorca and the Red Cross have the cooperation of the Public Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health, Regional Government.

This year's campaign focuses on preventing unnecessary risks of infection, due to male or female condoms in sexual relations under the slogan "EVIHTALO."

On the other hand, the message is addressed to those who have been exposed and may have acquired HIV.

Through the phrase "Take the test: if dapositivo, if you are negative, there are two reasons for the test and invites reflection on the possible consequences that may result in not hacérsela by shyness, by carelessness, by fear, or for any other reason.

"Take the test: if positive" Because if that exposure has resulted in HIV infection, it is necessary to begin treatment as soon as possible and that this is achieved by delaying the onset of AIDS and substantially improved life of the individual.

"Take the test: if it is negative" because if HIV exposure has not resulted in infection, the person can live more safely, forgetting the feeling of uneasiness of not knowing whether he had HIV.

This experience will surely serve as a reflection and let you weigh the risks of not taking the necessary precautions to avoid infection in the future.

Councilwoman recalled AIDS cases included in the Regional Registry of AIDS for those ordinarily resident in the Region of Murcia, which are reported from health care services.

Since the beginning of the epidemic through June 30, 2009 in the Region of Murcia has been reported 1635 people diagnosed with AIDS, which constitute 2% of total cases in Spain since 1981.

The annual incidence in the Region of Murcia had remained consistently below that of Spain, however in recent years there has been a stagnant trend in around 40 cases per million inhabitants, the regional impact than the state average in the last two years.

In 2008 there were in Spain 1,170 new AIDS cases, with an incidence of 26 cases per million inhabitants.

In the region there were 55 AIDS cases and an incidence of 40 cases per million inhabitants.

Most people diagnosed with AIDS in the Region are male (83%), although the number is declining.

The number of women diagnosed with AIDS has declined somewhat in recent years, which makes the percentage of affected women has increased slightly.

Nearly half of registered AIDS cases in the Region (46%) are between 30 and 39 years, with increasing age at which people are diagnosed with AIDS over the years, mostly due to current treatments that delay the onset of AIDS.

In recent years (2003-2009) the average age of diagnosis of AIDS in the region has been 40 years for men and 39 for women, the incidence of AIDS cases slightly higher in the central ages (from 30 to 54 years), compared with Spain.

In recent years (period 2003-2009) have shown that fewer people with AIDS are or have been users of intravenous drugs.

Instead, the trend of AIDS attributable to heterosexual transmission has not dropped much.

Because of this, in women the percentage of AIDS cases attributed to heterosexual transmission has been increasing until the period 2003-2009 similar to the proportions of cases among injection drug users.

In men, the highest percentage of diagnosed cases of AIDS still corresponds to injection drug users, but has declined from previous years, while the percentage of cases rises by heterosexual transmission (13% in the period 1981-1990 to 24 % in the final period.)

The percentage of AIDS cases attributed to homo / bisexual transmission sample, after an initial decline, a posterior stabilization, accounting for 22% of AIDS cases among men in the fourth quarter.

Depending on the number of cases attributable to the category of homo / bisexual transmission in recent years the trend might have begun to reverse.

Finally, it remains to note that in our region there is a high percentage of diagnosed cases of HIV infection late.

The time from diagnosis of HIV infection to AIDS diagnosis varies among different types of transmission.

In recent years there has been simultaneous diagnosis of HIV and AIDS (less than 2 months apart) in 53% of cases with contacts homo / bisexual and 69% of cases with heterosexual contact.

These results indicate the need to improve the early diagnosis of HIV infection, which enables those affected receive treatment and take measures to prevent the infection to others.
