90% of the militants who participated yesterday by secret ballot, in a consultative referendum, approved the proposal of the local party leadership to the agricultural cooperative chooses to lead the PSOE of Lorca in the upcoming municipal elections

The Assembly of the Socialist Group Lorquin confirmed yesterday, with an overwhelming 90%, the proposal of the local party leadership to choose Miras Manuel Soler for mayor of Lorca in 2011.

Soler, who already had the unanimous support of the Local Executive Committee and also has the endorsement of PSRM-PSOE, thus giving one more step to lead the Socialists Lorca candidacy in the upcoming municipal elections.

The referendum, advisory in nature, was conducted by secret ballot and the result showed 171 votes for, 16 against and 3 in white, which translates into 90% support Soler, by the highest organ of socialist group.

The process will enter its final phase when the competent federal bodies formally approve the nominations, which is scheduled to happen next summer when Spain abandoned the presidency of the European Union.

About Soler Miras

He was also president of the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Murcia (FECOAM) from 1993 until October 2002, is vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras.

In 2006 he received the Distinguished Service Certificate to the city that granted the city of Lorca and his name rang insistently as a substitute for Francisco del Amor when he left the presidency of the Central Union of Irrigation Aqueduct Tajo-Segura.
