The Municipal Socialist Party spokesman, Diego Ferra, today called for the establishment of a cooperation agreement between the municipality and the parish of San Cristóbal to carry out comprehensive rehabilitation of the cemetery district.
Ferra said that the cemetery requires the placement of a new non-slip floor, installation of drains and removal of architectural barriers as the most urgent actions.
Moreover, according to the PSOE are also necessary actions to adapt and improve the environment of the cemetery, such as improving access and the adequacy of parking space.
The socialist leader has also pointed out that there is hardly a score of niches available in the cemetery, one of two available to the urban setting of Lorca.
However, local demand is "very important", according to Ferra.
Therefore proposed to the mayor of the PP, Francisco Jodar, to undertake the necessary procedures for the City to acquire a site located just behind the cemetery for later transfer to the parish.
