Lorca school students account for awards of various regional competitions (02/03/2010)

Students from two secondary schools in Lorca have reaped the biggest hits in two regional competitions held in recent days, as reported by the Councillor for Education of the City of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia.

Manuel Ibáñez Gabarrón students and Polina Solivanova, IES Ramón Arcas Meca, picked up the first and second prizes respectively in the I Olympiad Geology of the Region of Murcia.

This contest was held on 12 February at the Social Centre Campus Universitario de Espinardo, bringing together two hundred students from 18 secondary schools in the region.

This test looked at a theoretical and practical, and it is intended to stimulate and engage students in Secondary Education in the knowledge and dedication by this science,

The two student winners of the regional phase will represent the Region of Murcia in the Spanish Geological I Olympiad, which convened the Association for the Teaching of Earth Sciences, the Geological Society of Spain and the Association of Geologists, and be held in Madrid on 27 and 28 March.

But Lorca's triumphs in this test were not there, but Jose Antonio Lopez Pallares and Ayla González Torres, also students of IES Ramón Arcas Meca, won the third and fourth place prizes respectively in the contest.

Moreover, students of IES San Juan Bosco has won first and second prize in the II Regional Competition "Emprendeimagina."

The winners were Juan José Díaz Reinaldos and Joaquín López Navarro 2 nd Course Training Course Intermediate Machining with its draft business plan "Baby Rock's" and Miguel Angel García Reverte 2 nd Course Training Course Intermediate Electricity and Electronics, with its project "Miguelectric", coordinated by Professor of Education and Vocational Guidance, Josefa Ortiz Marín.

The event, organized by CEEIM to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of students of different HEIs in the Region of Murcia, is to encourage and promote innovative initiatives from the education sector, supporting and spreading the entrepreneurial culture among the members of the centers Education Murcia.

The Councillor for Education, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, congratulated "students, schools and teachers for these successes, which are a new sample of high schools offering the municipality."
