The children's stories contest "Premio María Fernández-Luna" reaches its maximum participation (09/04/2010)

The jury of the contest organized by public libraries will meet to discuss the upcoming April 15 and awards will be made on Friday 23 April, World Book Day, at 11 am in the Auditorium Center Cultural City

The Councillor for Education and Library of the City of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, reported this morning that there have been a total of 1,436 stories to the XXV edition of the Child Award Competition "Maria Fernandez-Luna," which takes place this year.

Peñarrubia emphasized that "once again, the response to this educational activity has been increasing and has surpassed previous years' participation."

Specifically, since January 1418 there have been individual stories of students of Elementary and Early Childhood Education Collective 18 of 17 schools in the municipality.

The jury, which meets to deliberate on 15 April, chaired by the deputy mayor of Education and City University of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, and form the writer Jose Luis Molina, the literature teacher at IES Ramón Arcas, M ª de las Huertas García Mecca, the literature teacher at IES Ramón Arcas Encarna Alarcón, the Director of IES Ibáñez Martín Antonio Ortega, the Director of the Municipal School of Plastic Arts Juan Jiménez, Coordinator Cultural City Council on Culture and Celebration, Campo Santos, as well as the librarians Susan Torres, Francisca Padilla, Elena Hernández and Maria Luisa Garcia.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday 23 April, World Book Day, at 11 am in the Auditorium of Cultural Center of the City.

The center has presented more work is Sun City College (278 + 4 groups), followed by San Cristobal (199 +6 Collective), San Jose (150), St. Francis of Assisi (142 + 5 Groups), Andrés García Soler (94 + 1 Class), Juan Gonzalez (94), Alfonso X El Sabio (93), Narciso Yepes (82), Virgen de las Huertas (56 + 1 Class), Puri (45 + 1 Class), San Fernando ( 43), Pérez de Hita (38), PASIC-Campillo and Villaespesa (36), Sacred Heart (20), Jose Robles (7) and The Wire (5).

Since 1997, this literary award is named in memory and gratitude to the writer of children's literature Lorca Fernández-Luna, who in 1996 donated to the Municipal Library of Lorca all his library, with a large collection of children's literature and youth.
