The councilors of the Municipality of Lorca support the equitable distribution, fair and intelligent property to which all are entitled, and that involves development, progress and benefits that result in the common interest.
In that sense, we share the idea that the Tajo-Segura, declared of social interest, is vital and essential to alleviate suffering water shortages important an important part of the Spanish Levant and allowing 2.5 million people have drinking water.
Therefore, we consider it unacceptable to reform the Statute of Castilla La Mancha, while the proposal includes a reserve of 4,000 cubic hectometres to that community, along with another set of provisions that seek to destroy this infrastructure.
We understand that the only acceptable for Lorca is the withdrawal of the Statute of Castilla-La Mancha as the reform of this law goes against the concept of cohesive Spain advocate, is unconstitutional and grossly invade the powers of the state.
In addition, damages both the interests of the citizens of our town and the region of Murcia, and of all the people who live in the Mediterranean.
The text that the two major national political parties intend to negotiate, is also against the growth and economic recovery as the Tajo-Segura supports the most advanced agriculture in Spain and is a life insurance policy for our country and representing 10 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and regional employment.
The repeal of the transfer would mean for our region the gradual loss of 1,700 million euros in GDP and 51,500 jobs.
Therefore, we condemn both text and friendly support abstention in the various parliamentary procedures and demand that our representatives in Parliament a single position: and forceful rejection of amending the Statute Castilian-La Mancha and the return of the text legislative body of the autonomous region.
In addition we call for the unity of all.
We understand that the attitudes of assault and battery between the main political forces of our town and the region of Murcia only serve to weaken our common priority and win this battle in defense of the Tajo-Segura.
